Flashback: Bridgeport Speedway – June 8, 2005

Led by new promoter Doug Hoffman, Bridgeport Speedway will bring back the big block modifieds to the 5/8-mile oval on a regular basis in 2012. Here we take a look back at a race held in memory one of Bridgeport’s most successful track operators, the 40-lap George Wingate Classic held on June 8, 2005.

Also check out a flashback we put last year from a 2004 Bridgeport feature battle between Hoffman and Kenny Brightbill.

Wall Stadium Speedway – January 14, 2012

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – Wall Stadium held its first ever January race on Saturday afternoon with the NEETS-sanctioned Beaters with Heaters.

Dan Birdsall won the opening 150-lap small car enduro while veteran enduro racer Howie Bott held on to take the companion 150-lap event for the big cars. Linsey Rummel dominated 25-lap ladies race.

The most talked about moment on the day was when Scott Dunn performed a near complete rollover while battling for the the lead in the small car race, yet continued without stopping and managed to still finish fourth.

Hit ‘n’ Run 2011 Now Shipping

Hit ‘n’ Run is back with a new twist. Joining a two-hour season recap of the 2011 Pennsylvania dirt modified season will be a second disc containing all the wild crashes captured by GSP Video this year.

Comprising the first disc of the two-DVD set are jam packed highlights of all the dramatic moments, lead battles and hard wrecks from the 2011 modified season. All the weekly modified races from Grandview Speedway and Big Diamond Speedway are showcased along with other area specials featuring the cars and stars of the PA modified circuit.

The second disc in the Hit ‘n’ Run set is a new all-crash video from the past year of racing from January to November. Building off the success of last year’s “The Crashes” DVD, this video contains all the hard hits and big flips from the sprint cars, midgets, modifieds, and more.

Friend Or Foe? Stewart Friesen Uses Controversial Slide Job On Jeff Strunk For ‘King of the Can’ $5,000 Mod Honors; Kyle Rohner (Crate Sportsman) and Butch Green (Street Stock) Also Triumph

Stewart Friesen used a go-for-broke slide job on his “pal” Jeff Strunk with two laps remaining in Sunday evening’s ‘King of the Can’ big-block/small-block Modified event at Penn Can Speedway to earn a $5,000 victory. Friesen, of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., supplanted Pennsylvania star Strunk out front following the race’s final caution on lap 48 of the 50-lap feature, drawing a rise from Strunk and the fans at the Keystone State oval.

Duane Howard Drives Petruska No. 66 To Short Track SuperNationals Victory And Earns $7,080 (Cash) & Special Awards; Outstanding Field of 79 Modifieds Sign In!

(Event Press Release) KIRKWOOD, NY – There wasn’t room in the pit area at Five Mile Point Speedway for Duane Howard on Saturday night.

However, the Oley, Pa., driver found his way to Victory Lane at the fourth edition of the Short Track SuperNationals. With a huge field of 162 race cars – headlined by 79 big-block/small-block Modifieds – jamming the Kirkwood, N.Y., facility, Howard’s Mike Petruska-owned No. 66 was parked outside the pits on an access road.

JJ GRASSO STORMS TO IMPRESSIVE $5,000 410 SPRINT VICTORY AS BILLY PAUCH TOPS THE MODIFIEDS IN THE “JERSEY RUSH” TUESDAY NIGHT AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY

(Event Press Release) NEW EGYPT, NJ – Rain, hail, sleet and snow will not stop the mailman and Hurricane Irene was not about to stop the first presentation of the “JERSEY RUSH” Tuesday night at the New Egypt Speedway.

The event battled plenty of rain, damaging high winds and even a power outage at the track, but when it was all said and done, JJ Grasso of Pedricktown, NJ lived up to his “Jersey Jet” name to win the 30 lap, $5,000 to win JERSEY RUSH.
