Stewart Friesen used a go-for-broke slide job on his “pal” Jeff Strunk with two laps remaining in Sunday evening’s ‘King of the Can’ big-block/small-block Modified event at Penn Can Speedway to earn a $5,000 victory. Friesen, of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., supplanted Pennsylvania star Strunk out front following the race’s final caution on lap 48 of the 50-lap feature, drawing a rise from Strunk and the fans at the Keystone State oval.

Duane Howard Drives Petruska No. 66 To Short Track SuperNationals Victory And Earns $7,080 (Cash) & Special Awards; Outstanding Field of 79 Modifieds Sign In!

(Event Press Release) KIRKWOOD, NY – There wasn’t room in the pit area at Five Mile Point Speedway for Duane Howard on Saturday night.

However, the Oley, Pa., driver found his way to Victory Lane at the fourth edition of the Short Track SuperNationals. With a huge field of 162 race cars – headlined by 79 big-block/small-block Modifieds – jamming the Kirkwood, N.Y., facility, Howard’s Mike Petruska-owned No. 66 was parked outside the pits on an access road.

Billy Decker Returns ‘Home’ To Penn Can and Collects Huge $8,050 Payday in Historic ‘Clash at the Can’ Following Battle with Modified Up-And-Comer Danny Tyler; Huge Crowd Watches Talented 66-Car RoC Modified Field

(Event Press Release) SUSQUEHANNA, PA – Billy Decker returned to the track where it all started and left with a big payday.

Decker, 46, a resident of Unadilla, N.Y., who kicked off his storied career in former ‘Tiger’ division at Penn Can Speedway, invaded the Susquehanna County oval and walked off with an $8,050 payday in Tuesday night’s monumental ‘Clash at the Can’ event, which featured the highest ever winner’s share and total purse in the speedway’s history. Decker, who started 12th in the 60-lap event, earned the victory in John Wight’s potent No. 91 Gypsum Racing Bicknell after a battle with young Danny Tyler, an up-and-coming Modified star from Cottekill, N.Y., who races regularly at Accord (N.Y.) Speedway.

Justin Holland proved it Saturday night at Five Mile Point Speedway. The 31-year-old from White Lake, N.Y., defeated a talent-filled and diverse field of 72 Modifieds to score the most prestigious victory of his short Modified career before a capacity crowd at the historic facility.

Duane Howard Wins Thrilling ‘Clash at the Can’ At Penn Can Tuesday; Invader Takes $5,000 Top Prize Home To Oley, PA After Battle With Local Racer Brett Tonkin

SUSQUEHANNA, PA – It was a classic battle between invader and home track star.

Grandview (Pa.) Speedway regular Duane Howard and local racer Brett Tonkin thrilled the Penn Can Speedway fans Tuesday night with an extended side-by-side battle in the 60-lap ‘Clash at the Can’ presented by Don’s Automotive Mall and Gary’s U-Pull-It. Howard, of Oley, Pa., emerged for a $5,000 payday at the Susquehanna, Pa., oval: $4,000 from the posted purse and an additional $1,000 for taking the “Gambler’s Challenge” prior to the start of racing.
